The University of Auckland’s East Tamaki campus recently used the expert services of Webster Group when they had two backup generators supplied to support their new state-of-the-art data centre, to be used during building work.
The university’s innovative data centre houses high-tech equipment from around the globe, and is the hub for leading research in areas such as health, science and engineering. Any loss of data would be a disaster.
The Webster Group supplied and installed the two 650 kVA emergency power generators, complete with 20,000 litre bulk fuel system, associated pipe-work, alarm, and indication monitoring, in accordance with current ERMA HSNO requirements.
The units were installed using a New Zealand built 80 tonne crane. As the ground was extremely soft, spreader mats were put in place to help protect the lawns.
The professional installation required the implementation of traffic management plans, as well as adherence to safe working practices, to ensure a seamless and safe service.
The Webster Group installed and commissioned the units as load sharing modules, integrated with the data centre’s UPS systems.
